Liang Fang Chao

Computer Scientist

Dr. Liang Fang Chao is an elected City Council Member for the City of Cupertino and a former Trustee of the Cupertino Union School District Board of Education. Dr. Chao has notably established Better Cupertino, an organization that raises awareness about transparency and accountability in local and regional government, and co-founded the Young American Policy Advocates, which connects passionate community advocates with high schoolers to study local issues. 

Dr. Chao currently works as a Technical and Strategic Advisor on EdTech and AI/ML Trends with Arixin Inc., as well as a volunteer Product Manager for Omdena, a platform for bringing together the global AI community. She was the Co-Founder and CEO of MindX, an afterschool enrichment program which hosted STEAM competitions for students in Cupertino to promote an innovative mindset through the use of programmable loT kits.

Dr. Chao received her master’s degree in computer engineering from National Chiao Tung University and her Ph.D. in computer science from Princeton University.
