Austin Chapter

The Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civil rights and liberties for all Americans and promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding, and humanity.

An intolerant and regressive ideology is dividing our culture. Texans now face challenges to our civil rights and liberties in many aspects of our lives -- at school, at work, in healthcare and beyond.

The Austin Chapter of FAIR is committed to promoting compassionate opposition to racism and intolerance by treating all people with dignity and respect, regardless of the color of their skin or the circumstances of their birth. We believe that tolerance is “the capacity to disagree strongly with another person about significant issues while maintaining civility and respecting their right to hold a different view than you.” 1

We aim to educate and empower Texans — parents, educators, students, politicians, employees, and administrators — with the tools and knowledge necessary to challenge neo-racism and race-essentialist ideology wherever it appears. We are building a community to support each other and promote pro-human values such as fairness, understanding, tolerance, diversity, equality, open inquiry, free speech, and constructive, respectful dialogue among those with different perspectives.

Help us move our culture toward realizing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream: an America in which all citizens live as one unified and tolerant people. Join the Austin Chapter of FAIR and check out our volunteer opportunities.
