All school districts, including charter schools, must operate within and teach to the State Social Studies standards. Given this impact to our kids and community, we believe it is imperative to improve the current draft of these standards.
FAIR Colorado Stands for:
- Teaching students America’s full history, not only focusing on our flaws but also on how our founding principles have led to unprecedented flourishing for people across demographics.
- Motivating students to know that in our shared humanity, we are individuals with self-determination. We do not condone dividing students into stereotyped identity groups based on immutable characteristics.
- Encouraging students to be informed, engaged citizens, but not pressuring them to be activists for specific causes.
