Dear FAIR San Diego Members,

The California Department of Finance recently came out AGAINST the passage of AB-101, the bill that would mandate an Ethnic Studies course requirement for high school students. Jolie Onodera, the Legislative Director of the Department of Finance, stated that “…the pandemic has negatively impacted the ability of many students to meet existing minimum graduation requirements. And further, increasing high school graduation requirements will create significant workload at the local level at a time when schools are undergoing dramatic changes to assist students as they return to full-time in person instruction.”

This is our best opportunity to move the focus off the controversial Ethnic Studies curriculum and refocus on our children.

California parents and concerned individuals, please contact:

The Senate Appropriations Committee members; AND
Your district legislative representatives.

Let them know we want schools to focus on assisting our children as they transition from 18 months of on-line schooling, and to not waste time and money on additional curriculum. Not only did our students lose a year of valuable education, but also, they remain traumatized by the COVID pandemic and restrictions, and are struggling to catch up academically and adjust socially.
