Rome Chapter

As a rural southern town, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Rome has a deep civil war history. Visitors will find plenty of historical sites and opportunities to learn about Rome's history. Most notable is the burning of Rome by the Union army on the evening of November 10, 1864. This event marked the beginning of General Sherman's March to the Sea.

The Rome chapter of the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) launched in January, 2022. FAIR is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to advancing civil rights and liberties for all Americans, and promoting a common culture based on fairness, understanding and humanity.
