Lois has been involved in local politics for over 20 years, and specifically, school board elections since 2011, recruiting candidates and helping to elect them. She formed the Keystone Taxpayers Unite PAC (formerly Taxpayers Unite! Blair County), the first conservative local political action committee in Blair County, to help elect reform-minded candidates. She has raised thousands of dollars through her PAC to help inform voters about taxpayer-friendly school board candidates. Reform candidates in her former school district of the Hollidaysburg area in central Pennsylvania, whom she helped elect, transformed the district, ousting entrenched administrators and refused to pass tax increases. In 2019, Ms. Kaneshiki recruited two last-minute candidates for school board 2 days before petitions were due, as a result of candidates backing out at the last minute. She successfully got these candidates on the Primary ballot, and they were elected in the General Election. Ms. Kaneshiki was instrumental in the movement to fight the Common Core Standards in Pennsylvania, and spoke in front of the Pennsylvania School Board, receiving applause from attendees, before they misguidedly adopted the Common Core revisions to the school code. Ms. Kaneshiki was elected to the Hollidaysburg Area School Board in 2015. She garnered front-page news coverage for some of her principled stands on the school board, including refusing to vote to adopt text books with anti-American bias and environmental propaganda. Although she was considered a controversial figure, Ms. Kaneshiki came in first place in an 11-way Republican Primary for her re-election in 2019. Unfortunately, a panicked school establishment targeted her in the General, and she lost re-election by 20 votes. Ms. Kaneshiki home schooled her 2 daughters for many years.
