Kendi, black-Jewish relations, and why MLK \u2018wouldn\u2019t permit what\u2019s going on.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>An Excerpt:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;.Jones is still, in his mind, having conversations with his friend, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/kinginstitute.stanford.edu\/assassination-martin-luther-king-jr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">assassinated<\/a>\u00a0at the age of 39 on a Memphis hotel balcony in 1968. Especially now, as America\u2019s racial climate seems to have worsened, despite the fact that King successfully fought to ensure all Americans are given equal protection under the law, regardless of their skin color. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/1687\/race-relations.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a>\u00a0from 2021 shows that 57 percent of U.S. adults view the relations between black and white Americans to be \u201csomewhat\u201d or \u201cvery\u201d bad\u2014compared to just 35 percent who felt that way a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p data-substack-content=\"\">Jones knows exactly what King would have felt about that. He says it out loud, and directs it to his late mentor: \u201cMartin, I\u2019m pissed off at you. I\u2019m angry at you. We should have been more protective of you. We need you. WASHINGTON VIEW CIVIL RIGHTS AND SOCIAL JUSTICE?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Lessons from the great proponent of black self-sufficiency<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>An Excerpt:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In Booker T. Washington\u2019s vision, empowerment and progress came from skill, intelligence, and character. According to Booker T., these factors cultivate interracial respect and economic independence for black people. Despite the well-meaning intentions and widespread support of the modern social justice movement, Washington would likely view it with a critical eye.<\/p>\n<p>Washington would likely argue that focusing on victimhood does not contribute to advancement and may even hinder black development. Washington was a staunch advocate for economic self-determination and autonomy.
